Tyler Cornett - Granite Falls, NC
Tyler first picked up a fly rod at 12 years old and has not put it down since. He learned to tie his own flies under the guidance and expertise of Dave Hise of Caster’s Fly Shop in Hickory, NC. His love for the art of fly fishing has continued to grow through the years. Tyler was born and raised in the town of Granite Falls, NC. The closest trout streams to his hometown were about an hour away. Unfortunately, this made it hard for Tyler to fish as much as he would like to. That all changed when he was accepted to Western Carolina University in the middle of the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests. He is now surrounded by so much trout water that he doesn’t know how to go about fishing it all! Tyler is a freshman at WCU, where he is studying Natural Resource Conservation Management. Outside of school you can find him on the water somewhere chasing trout on the fly. Tyler has recently entered the competitive world of fly fishing. He and his partners have placed 6th in the Casting For Hope Cherokee Classic and 5th in the Rumble in the Rhododendron this past year. He is excited about joining Team Stonefly and can’t wait to learn from some of the best.
